Collaborate with us.
Why Join Us?
Thousands of students have learned from the adaptive math software available for free through Carnegie Mellon's Algebra Tutor. We are happy to partner with teachers and schools to use our materials at no cost.
How can you help?
We are currently running studies focused on practicing algebraic expressions. Our unit is divided into two topics:
1. Explaining expressions in word problems, including matching the parts of an equation to the context it describes
2. Writing expressions in word problems by using provided information to write the expressions.
What to expect?
Our unit is designed for approximately eight 40-minute sessions, typically twice a week for four weeks in an Algebra 1 or Pre-Algebra course. The intervention includes a pretest and post-test to track learning gains, as well as six days of practice that may contain metacognitive or motivational support.
